Satellite Emergency Department at Capital Health - Mercer

On November 6, 2011, Capital Health – Mercer officially closed as an acute care hospital when its new hospital, Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell (located on One Capital Way in Pennington, NJ) officially opened. The Emergency Department at Mercer (located at 433 Bellevue Avenue, Trenton, NJ) remains open and operates as a Satellite Emergency Department (SED).

The satellite emergency department is still open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., every day. You can receive treatment there for all the same injuries and illnesses you go to an emergency room for today, as well as less serious conditions such as sore throats, fevers, rashes, minor asthma attacks and sprains.  Patients who need to be admitted to the hospital will be transferred to an acute care hospital.

Those with serious conditions who may need to be admitted (examples include critically injured patients who require advanced life support, late stage pregnant women with at-risk conditions, and those suffering from mental health emergencies) should go to our Capital Health Regional Medical Center, located at 750 Brunswick Avenue in Trenton, NJ.

The satellite emergency department still provides care for children of all ages, but the specialized Pediatric Emergency Department that was at Mercer has relocated to our new Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell.
